In April, he underwent an operation after experiencing a resurgence of plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Prior to this issue, Woods had undergesewa3eone surgical procedures on at least 10 occasions as a consequence of professional injuries. Among these surgeries, five were performed on his left knee while the rest pertained to issues in his back.
The most recent game played by Woods occurred in the Bahamas, where shorts were not allowed and a purse of 4.5 million USD was up for grabs.
He vied for points against 19 renowned PGA Tour players on the par72 Albany course across four rounds and concluded this morning, December 4th in Hanoi time.
Woods’ final rank was 18th, achieving an even par score. The victor of the tournament and recipient of one million USD in prize money is Scottie Scheffler – currently ranked as the world’s top player with a remarkable score of -20.
When looking solely at the last round’s score, Woods matched Scheffler’s lack of bogeys but fell short with an even par while Scheffler scored -4. In the previous three rounds, Woods never exceeded a par score. Throughout the tournament, despite securing 19 birdies, the ex-world number one from America had to make up for two double bogeys and fifteen bogeys.
“I took a while to get back in the game. However, throughout this championship, I brushed up on my skills and endured all four rounds. Moreover, playing alongside my peers rekindled my passion for competing,” stated Woods before concluding the Hero World Challenge with satisfaction at his outcomes.
Despite being on the verge of his 48th birthday and plagued with injuries, Woods seems to be optimistic about his present physical state according to this statement.
Starting in 2024, the PGA Tour has decided to organize its season according to the administrative year. Prior to participating in Hero World Challenge 2023, “Super Tiger” intended on competing once a month and continued with this plan after the tournament ended. Despite feeling soreness throughout his body, Woods remains committed stating that it will become feasible for him to continue playing at this frequency next season since he’ll be able take two weeks off during recovery periods.
For 27 years, Woods dedicated himself to playing professional golf and accomplished numerous prodigious feats such as winning 15 majors. He also set exceptional records in the sport with his achievement of holding an impressive total of 82 trophies on the PGA Tour and topping the world rankings for a whopping duration of 683 weeks. However, during this journey towards greatness he encountered several injuries that required surgical intervention – at least ten times in fact; five surgeries targeted issues with his left knee while others focused on problems within his back region. In addition to these physical concerns, Woods’ well-being was further impacted by health complications following a near-fatal car accident which occurred in February of this year (2021).
