Two Harmed Alabama Softball Players Gaining ground to Return for SEC Opener.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama softball’s pitching staff has the best group Period (0.59) in the nation, and the Ruby Tide has had the option to do that even without two of its six pitchers throughout the previous few weeks.
Pitching mentor Spear McMahon has depended on Kayla Beaver and Jaala Torrence as starters during this stretch with Alea Johnson coming in as a reliever.
Both first year recruit Jocelyn Briski and senior Lauren Esman have not pitched since exitting with mid-game wounds during the Bama Slam on Feb. 17.
Alabama lead trainer Patrick Murphy gave a positive update on the two players heading into the group’s SEC opener against Florida this end of the week. Briski’s presumably going to pitch,” Murphy expressed before Thursday’s training. “She pitched yesterday.
She will pitch again today, so that was great to see.” Before her physical issue, Briski was 3-0 with a 1.29 Period and 18 strikeouts.
The shortfall of Esman has in addition to the fact that felt been in the circle at the plate.
She had just pitched 1.2 innings before she got harmed, yet Esman had been one of Alabama’s best hitters with four duplicates and a grand slam. She had begun a few games at a respectable starting point and as the assigned hitter.
Esman hit Tuesday and Wednesday since we went home for the days in the current week, and she looked very great,” Murphy said.
“She got to hit against live pitching yesterday, and afterward she’ll rehash it today against me and one of the chiefs.
She looked very great, as well.” No. 10 Alabama has No. 13 Florida this end of the week at Rhoads Arena for three games from Saturday to Monday.
