Exclusive; Browns bringing back familiar face, re-signing K Cade York
According to a league source confirmed by News 5, Cade York is being re-signed to the Cleveland Browns roster as their kicker. This brings a familiar face back onto the team.
After being selected as a fourth-round pick in 2022, York rapidly ascended to fame while playing for Cleveland. This was due to his achievement of making a game-winning 58-yard field goal during the first week of the same year’s season. His accomplishment resulted in providing victory for Browns on their opening day after an extended period of eighteen years without one.
Throughout his initial season, York encountered some difficulties and missed various opportunities to secure victories. Despite approaching the 2023 season with a fresh determination, York was unable to hit four crucial field goal attempts during preseason play which ultimately resulted in him being released by the Browns after they acquired Dustin Hopkins through trade.
Despite the Browns’ hope of re-signing him to their practice squad, York chose to start anew with the Tennessee Titans by signing on as a member of their own practice team last season. Since then, he has had stints with both the Titans and Giants organizations.
York has been signed by the Browns, which means he’ll be reunited with Hopkins on the roster and offer additional support as a training participant now that offseason exercises are almost underway. The beginning of their offseason workout programs is set for April 15th.
