2024 Masters bets: How Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are already leading at Augusta—and it’s not even close
Despite having won eight green jackets between them, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are considered unlikely contenders at this year’s Masters tournament. However, there is one specific bet in which the two golfers have already established a clear lead over their competitors at Augusta National.
This week, the odds for Woods and Mickelson to win are 140-to-1 and 200-to-1 respectively. Nonetheless, there is currently a significant amount of activity on a matchup bet that puts them against each other.
With over 50 matchup bets to choose from, SportsBetting.ag has reported that the duel between two Hall-of-Famers is generating remarkable attention. The match-up of Tiger vs. Phil has garnered an unparalleled level of interest as it received six times more wagers compared to any other battle on offer.
Despite having shorter tournament odds, Woods is still considered a slight underdog (+108) compared to Mickelson (-129) in the bet. They are both undersdogs for making it into the cut and playing on the weekend.
It is important to specify that this hypothetical pairing is merely for discussion purposes. Woods has been designated to compete alongside Jason Day and Max Homa during the initial two rounds, whereas Mickelson will be accompanied by Tony Finau and Sepp Straka as his partners.
In the lead-up to the 2018 Masters, Woods and Mickelson made headlines by playing a practice round together (as seen in the image above). Little did they know that this friendly outing would eventually lead to an epic showdown at Capital One’s The Match, where Mickelson emerged victorious and claimed the whopping $9 million prize.
In 2019, Woods claimed his fifth green jacket while Mickelson’s victory at the Masters dates back to 2010. However, the latter demonstrated exceptional performance by finishing T-2 last year despite being aged 52.
