Tiger Woods confirms he’ll tee off at the final round of The Masters says “We’ll be ready”

Tiger Woods has not participated in a golf tournament since the 2023 Hero World Challenge. However, his last completed official tournament was way back in February of that year at the Genesis Invitational. He is now just one round away from achieving this feat again and changing those statistics for good.

Despite his injuries, the 15-time major winner has verified that he will not be pulling out from the Masters Tournament. He is set to compete in its fourth round on Sunday, April 14th. Golf Magazine’s Dylan Dethier posted this update via X (previously Twitter) stating:

“I’ll be back for the final round on Sunday,” Tiger Woods confirms. “My team will ensure my preparedness, even if it means a lengthy night and warm-up session.”

During the third round on Saturday, Tiger Woods appeared to be in considerable distress as he tended to his back and frequently bent at the knees. Many spectators and media accounts observed that he exhibited indications of experiencing issues with his ankle and back.

Despite many fans predicting on social networks that Tiger Woods would withdraw during the round, he finished with an impressive score of 10 under (11 under for 54 holes).

On which occasion did Tiger Woods play a complete season on the PGA Tour?

Tiger Woods’ career has been plagued by well-documented injury issues, requiring fusion surgeries for both his back and ankle as well as various other surgical procedures.

Woods’ most recent complete season on the tour was in 2017-2018, following his successful spinal fusion surgery performed that same year. During this time frame, he competed in a total of 18 tournaments where he made the cut for all but two. He earned himself one tournament win at TOUR Championship and also completed six other events with Top 10 finishes to his name.

He participated in just 12 tournaments the next season and emerged as the triumphant winner of his fifth Masters Tournament. Additionally, he secured three other top-notch positions within this duration. The consecutive year witnessed a further drop in tournament participation to only seven events for him; however, he still managed to claim victory at the ZOZO Championship.

Since then, Woods has been limited to participating in a maximum of three tournaments per year. In the season spanning from 2020-2021, he took part in just three tournaments and his best performance was placing T38 at the Masters Tournament.

After a year, he participated in three tournaments once more but managed to complete only two. Once again, his prime performance was at Augusta National where he secured the 47th position. During the season of 2022-23, he featured in The Genesis Invitational (T45), Masters (WD) and an (unofficial) event called Hero World Challenge securing the 18th spot.

In 2024, Woods has commenced only two tournaments up until now- The Genesis Invitational(WD) and the Masters. His wish is to complete the latter on Sunday.
