Exclusive; Blockbuster Bills Trade Proposal Adds WR Talent After Stefon Diggs Trade
The Buffalo Bills require a game-changing wide receiver to fill the void left by Stefon Diggs’ departure, whereas the Tennessee Titans are in need of draft picks for their roster reconstruction centered on quarterback Will Levis.
According to a report, it is possible for them to satisfy each other’s requirements through a Day 1 trade during the NFL Draft.
In an article released on April 15th, Alex Kay from Bleacher Report proposed that the Buffalo Bills might consider trading up to acquire Tennessee’s No.7 overall spot in order to secure one of this draft’s most promising wide receiver prospects. As part of the deal, the Titans would receive multiple Day 2 picks which could significantly bolster their roster depth and talent level.
Top Receiver Snagged by Bills.
The Bills enter the draft with a scarcity of options in their receiving unit, after parting ways with Diggs and seeing Gabe Davis depart as a free agent. Kay highlighted that this year’s pool of potential wide receivers is particularly abundant, presenting an opportunity for the Bills to secure one of the most promising prospects by trading up to Tennessee’s position.
According to Kay, Buffalo is in dire need of additional receiving skills since Stefon Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler was traded to the Houston Texans and playmaker Gabriel Davis left during free agency. Moving up to No.7 would virtually guarantee one of the top receivers available – Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze or Malik Nabers who were ranked by Bleacher Report Scouting Department as Nos. 1,6 and 8 overall players respectively in this class.”
Kay predicted that relocating beyond 20 positions from their No. 28 selection would come with a hefty price tag. He hypothesized that Buffalo’s three highest picks in this year’s draft, which are numbered as follows: 28th, 60th and 128th respectively, along with their first-round choice in the upcoming year of2025 could all be required to secure such an advancement.
This would also mark one of the most significant draft maneuvers made by the Bills in ten years. In 2014, they rose to fourth place and selected wide receiver Sammy Watkins before jumping up to seventh position just four years later for quarterback Josh Allen’s selection.
Draft strategy is not a timid pursuit for Bills general manager, Brandon Beane. He has demonstrated this by trading up in the first round during the two preceding seasons. Additionally, there seems to be considerable backing from within their ranks as well since Von Miller – an edge rusher- endorsed on social media that it would benefit Buffalo if they traded up for a new receiver.
Some analysts predict that the Bills may trade up for a wide receiver, but not all anticipate them making such an aggressive move into the top 10. On April 12th, USA Today’s Bills Wire published Nick Wojton’s mock draft in which he foretold that Buffalo would climb two spots to select Adonai Mitchell from Texas as their preferred wide receiver choice.
There are additional moves to be made following the draft.
After the announcement of Diggs trade, Beane spoke to reporters and mentioned that the Bills may consider free agency to bolster their wide receiving squad. He also emphasized that there is still a lot of roster work left until the season commences.
According to the official website of the team, Beane expressed his confidence in their offense and other players such as receivers, tight ends, and backs. However, he emphasized that they still have time until September when games begin so they will continue to search for ways to improve their depth and competition by exploring every possibility. This way, when it’s finally time to play matches again; a winning team with satisfying performance can be presented proudly.
