Breaking; Browns Add Bruising Running Back Following Draft
The addition of bruising RB Aidan Robbins comes as Browns capitalize on their draft.
After the draft, the Cleveland Browns promptly included Aidan Robbins in their group of running backs.
Despite not being selected in the draft, Robbins quickly found a team to play for as a former running back from BYU. However, information regarding the details of his agreement was not immediately disclosed.
Robbins’ size is what sets him apart, measuring 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 240 pounds. Throughout his college years, he played for Louisville, UNLV and BYU before landing on a team.
In 2022, Robbins experienced his most successful season with the Rebels as he amassed a total of 1,009 yards on 209 carries at an average of 4.8 yards per carry. Throughout his entire career, he managed to rush for a grand total of 1,545 yards and scored an impressive thirty touchdowns.
Javion Cohen (Miami), Lorenzo Thompson (Rhode Island), Winston Reid (Weber State), Chris Edmonds (Arizona State) and Dyshawn Gales(South Dakota State) were among the other undrafted free agents who joined The Browns’ initial haul.
The Browns RB Room Gets a Boost with the Addition of Aidan Robbins.
During the offseason, the Browns focused on enhancing their depth in the backfield by adding free agents D’Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines. They will team up with Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong Jr., who are also returning.
“Last year, we were impressed with the depth at every position,” stated Browns GM Andrew Berry on April 18. “Jerome and Pierre showed tremendous skills in filling in when needed, while Kareem Hunt stepped up for high leverage moments. These two players received plenty of practice time last season, enhancing their skillset considerably. Our recent additions have diverse abilities that can complement our existing talent pool, allowing us to feel confident about where we stand.”
At some point during the upcoming season, Cleveland anticipates seeing Nick Chubb return. Once he is back on the field as a four-time Pro Bowler, all eyes will be on him to lead their running game.
Chubb’s recovery from a knee injury that ended his season is ongoing. Although he has increased his level of activity, there remains uncertainty regarding when he will be able to return.
“At the NFL’s Annual League Meeting in March, Berry stated that it is perhaps too soon to fully comprehend his appearance. Nonetheless, he acknowledged that he is making great progress with rehabilitation,” as reported by the Akron Beacon Journal.
Over the course of 77 games with the Browns, he has accumulated an impressive total of 6,511 rushing yards and scored a noteworthy number of 48 touchdowns.
Jamari Thrash Joins Browns as a New Wide Receiver.
In the draft, only a single pass-catcher was brought on by The Browns – Jamari Thrash from Louisville in the fifth round. In his previous season with the Cardinals team, he managed to make 63 catches accumulating up to 858 receiving yards (an average of 13.6 per catch) and scored six touchdowns.
According to the Browns, Thrash would integrate smoothly with Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore and other players.
After the draft, Berry commented that “His ability to create routes and separate from defenders was impressive. He’s versatile enough to play both outside and inside positions, plus he has excellent ball-handling skills. We’re eager for him to join our receiver room and compete for playing time given his flexibility.”
Former third-round picks, David Bell and Cedric Tillman are yet to establish their role in the offense as they will be competing with Thrash for reps.
