6 LIV Golf members ft. Adrian Meronk receive invites to 2024 PGA Championship
Adrian Meronk and 5 other members of LIV Golf have been granted invitations to participate in the PGA Championship scheduled for 2024.
Sean Zak suggests that the addition of Louis Oosthuizen completes the list of notable golfers from LIV Golf joining this tournament. While DataGolf ranks Oosthuizen as its 32nd best golfer globally, most deserving contenders have already earned their invitations or qualified through diligent efforts.
Securing a spot in Major tournaments poses greater difficulty for LIV players compared to their PGA Tour counterparts. They have to go through numerous qualifiers and earn OWGR points, which significantly affect their ranking and chances of getting selected. However, participating in LIV events does not contribute towards the player’s rank qualification process presently or possibly even going forward.
Though LIV players do have opportunities to compete in other qualifying events like those on the DP World Tour or as part of the International Series, such chances are few. This is where special invites can prove valuable. Most recipients received theirs just over a week prior to Valhalla becoming golf’s focus worldwide.
Who among the LIV Golf members will participate in the PGA Championship?
Although a few others were already in, the six individuals who received special invitations to the PGA Championship will be participating at the tournament next weekend. However, they won’t be serving as solitary representatives for their tour.
