Breaking News; 4 more LIV Golf players get late invites into US PGA
Many LIV Golf players were given last-minute invitations to participate in the upcoming US PGA Championship.
Dean Burmester has received an invitation to join the US PGA.
Four additional LIV Golf players have been welcomed by the PGA of America to participate in the upcoming US PGA Championship at Valhalla.
This afternoon, invitations to the second major of the season were extended to South Africa’s in-form player Dean Burmester, former Masters champion Patrick Reed, Poland’s Adrian Meronk and Australia’s Lucas Herbert.
Burmester stands out among the previously mentioned players for his impressive performance on the fairways. He achieved consecutive victories on the DP World Tour at the end of 2023 and secured his first LIV Golf title in Miami earlier this year, propelling him to third place on the season-long rankings.
Yesterday’s invited players Talor Gooch and David Puig were joined by the quartet in the field.
That makes it two more as compared to last month’s performance at The Masters.
Upon learning that several LIV Golf players had been invited to participate in the US PGA, CEO Greg Norman emphasized the company’s impact through its success, player roster, market reach and platform. According to him, recognition is overdue for their talented athletes who have earned respect from day one.
Louis Oosthuizen seems to have been left off the invite list for LIV Golf, despite his impressive performance at the end of 2023 on the DP World Tour where he won twice like Burmester and finished as a runner-up in two events during this season’s breakaway league.
In addition to winning the 2010 Open, the same golfer attained second place in both the 2017 and 2021 US PGA Championships.
Louis Oosthuizen has yet to receive a PGA invitation.
