Rival Quarterback Turns Heads With Statement on Bills QB Josh Allen

C.J. Stroud is altering his stance on Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, following early backlash regarding his rankings of quarterbacks.

The omission of Allen from the Houston Texans quarterback’s top five quarterbacks in the league caused a commotion. However, he eventually revised his list and replaced Allen with Jalen Hurts, who is a signal-caller for Philadelphia Eagles.

Initially, Stroud made known his original list in a preview on Instagram for the June 2 installment of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast. He placed himself ahead of certain highly-regarded quarterbacks and overlooked Allen until he subsequently used social media to amend his roster.

During his podcast guesting, Stroud selected Patrick Mahomes as the commonly agreed top quarterback in the league. He also mentioned two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson and included himself alongside Dak Prescott of Dallas Cowboys and Hurts on the list.

The exclusion of Allen and Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow sparked immediate attention towards the list. CBS Sports’s Bryan DeArdo highlighted that Stroud later showcased another list on his Instagram stories, where he gave appreciation to Bills quarterback.

Stroud revealed his revised list on Instagram, maintaining the top three quarterbacks and selecting Josh Allen for fourth place. He pushed Prescott to fifth place while leaving out Hurts altogether. Stroud also acknowledged Joe Burrow’s talent by including him in the top five but attributed his absence from the rankings due to a season-ending injury that prevented him from playing half of 2023’s games.

Allen’s unexpected ranking has gone viral once again this offseason, and it’s not the first time. Just last month at a charity event in Buffalo, former Bills safety Jordan Poyer caused quite a stir when he shared his affection for fans while also making a noteworthy comment about Allen.

Poyer expressed his admiration for the Bills by stating, “I cherished every moment of it. Although we fell short in achieving our goal, you have the greatest quarterback in the league. I understand that statement may spread globally, but I am untroubled.”

Despite his prior open admiration for Allen, Poyer’s recent statement has caught some notice due to his new signing with the competing Miami Dolphins where he will be working in tandem with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

The meeting of Josh Allen and C.J. Stroud is imminent.

Stroud, who experienced a successful rookie year with the Texans resulting in a division title, will have an opportunity to compete against Allen in the upcoming season. In Week 5, the Bills and Texans are scheduled to clash at Houston’s arena wherein former Buffalo wide receiver Stefon Diggs is set to play against his ex-team.

Despite Diggs experiencing reduced productivity in the latter part of the 2023 season, the Texans remain confident that he will continue to contribute effectively to their offense for future seasons.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who reported on SportsCenter via Bleacher Report, after speaking with individuals in the league, it is believed that they will possess one of the top three sets of receivers in the NFL. This set includes Tank Dell and Nico Collins.

There is a sense that Diggs may have lost some of his ability to run vertically during his time in Buffalo, but this should not be concerning as Houston specifically requires him to utilize his astute route-running skills and excel in the middle range of the field. The team already has younger players who can handle deep passes effectively.
