The United States Golf Association has announced that Keegan Bradley will be the captain of Team USA at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
The former PGA champion will replace Zach Johnson, who captained Team USA to a 16.5-11.5 loss to Team Europe at Marco Simone Golf Club last September. Bradley made his debut in Ryder Cup during the 2012 competition, where he won three of his four games in the “miracle” in the defeat of Medina, and also played in the loss of 2014 in Glenigls.

PGA of America’s president John Lyndert said: “I am proud and delighted to call Kigan Bradley, the captain of the Ryder Cup of 2025. “Keegan’s past Ryder Cup experience, strong relationships and unwavering passion for the event will prove invaluable as he leads Team USA over the next year and a half. We are confident that under Keegan’s leadership, the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team will compete at Bethpage with the same confidence and determination that defined his career.

Woods played eight matches as a player and one as vice-captain at Hazeltine in 2016 and was “in negotiations” with the PGA of America to lead Team USA starting the following September. The former world number one refused to downplay speculation about the captaincy in his pre-Masters press conference but warned he may not be able to captain the team at the PGA Championship in May because of other off-course responsibilities.
The U.S. team has traditionally tended to select its captain at least 18 months in advance and the delay is likely due to negotiations with Woods, although several reports have suggested the 15-time major winner does not feel able to fulfill the role. “We’re still in discussions,” Woods explained at Valhalla in May. “I spend a lot of my time on the PGA Tour and I don’t want to be captain if I can’t do that.” “You have to feel like you can give it the time it deserves, knowing what it means and representing Team USA and their commitment to the PGA of America, the players and the fans.”

Former world No. 1 Luke Donald will captain Europe for the second time after leading the team to a 16.5-11.5 victory in Rome last September. Donald has won all four Ryder Cups he has played in and served as vice captain in two of them. Thomas Bjorn and Edoardo Molinari have returned to their vice-captain roles as part of Donald’s backroom team to win the title in Rome in 2023, while former Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley has been appointed strategic adviser.
