It’s sad to see : The world of golf remains broken by the development of Tiger Woods

Golf fans are the worst of Tiger Woods after the legendary US legend excludes six sick holes on Friday and then leaving the Genesis Inbiitative. Woods, playing in the first PGA Tour event of the year and his first official tournament since the Masters last April, announced his retirement after just 24 holes.
The 48-year-old called for a cart after hitting his tee shot on the seventh hole on Friday and was removed from the course by a rules official. PGA Tour official Mark Duszbabek said on television that Woods was ill and that his withdrawal was not related to his ankle or back.
His longtime collaborator and vice president of TGR Ventures, Rob McNamara, later reported that Woods experienced flu-like symptoms on Thursday night that worsened when he woke up. “He had a slight fever and felt fine while warming up, but when he came out and started walking and playing he started to feel dizzy,” McNamara told PGA Tour officials. “Ultimately the doctors said he may have some type of flu and is dehydrated.” They put him on an IV and he’s feeling a lot better and will be out here on his own soon.”
Woods said Thursday that he had back spasms after a bad putt on the final hole of the first round. He held a 1-over-par lead going into the second round before narrowly missing the ball out of bounds. Dushbabek had previously said Friday that the problem was not his back. “That’s not what he’s telling us now,” Dushbabek said. \ “It’s sick. He doesn’t feel good. I think that’s part of the reason, but he’s not feeling good. He’s not feeling good right now.”
Tiger Woods was eliminated in the second round of the Genesis Invitational golf tournament. Woods was seen holding his head in his hands as he was escorted off the course and has not played an official tournament since the Masters in April of last year, when he withdrew midway through the third round of a rain-delayed major tournament.
He played 20 players in the unofficial Hero World Challenge in December without making the cut, then played in the 36-hole PNC Championship with his son.

The 15-time major champion said he wants to play one tournament per month this year, including all four majors, which would theoretically mean Woods could try to qualify for next month’s Arnold Palmer Invitational or The Players Championship. But after playing his first match in more than 10 months on Thursday, the 48-year-old admitted he wasn’t sure if his plan would actually come to fruition. “I hope it will and I hope I can play as well,” Woods said. “As far as the physical ups and downs, it’s part of my body and part of who I am. It’s OK, I accept it and I accept the challenges.
Over the past four seasons, Woods has played in only nine official tournaments, missing two and losing three times. He suffered a serious leg injury in a car accident in 2021 and has struggled to return to his best since then.
He underwent a second fixation surgery on his ankle after withdrawing from last year’s Masters, but said he had no issues with his ankle on Wednesday and Thursday. He previously said ankle surgery relieved the debilitating pain but that he would never again be able to train and play like he did in his prime.
Max Homa, who won the tournament in 2021, said earlier this week that Woods’ return was a huge boost for golf. “Every event is better when Tiger is there,” Homa said. “It’s just incredible what he brings to the event with his presence on the golf course. Obviously, it’s great that his name is attached to him, but you want him to play, all fans want him to play. Field
