Tennis players Maria Sharapova and Tiger Woods attend the 20th anniversary celebration of the Tiger Woods Foundation at the New York Public Library.
Maria Sharapova and Tiger Woods have more in common than their abilities to dominate their respective sports. The tennis player and golfer, both victims of public cheating scandals, also share a penchant for philanthropy. The two greats, each former number one in their respective fields, met Thursday evening at the Tiger Woods Foundation’s 20th anniversary celebration at the New York Public Library.
Founded in 1996 by Woods and his father, Earl, the organization has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships over the past 20 years and also strives to create community programs to improve the health and overall well-being of children.
The two sports greats were beaming with smiles and appropriately attired for the celebration. Sharapova emotionally apologized to fans and other players when she was tested for meldonium at the Australian Open in January.
