What you need to know and where to watch the golf tournament

On Thursday, July 11, the Genesis Scottish Open, one of the main events on the European circuit, kicks off and runs until Sunday, July 14.

This professional golf tournament takes place in Scotland and is one of five Rolex Series events, making it a key event on the European Tour calendar. Since 1987, the Scottish Open, along with the John Deere Classic, has been the final opportunity for players to qualify for the Open Championship. The Genesis Scottish Open became part of the Rolex Series in 2017, marking the inauguration of the series and increasing the prize fund to seven million dollars. Starting from 2022, the tournament has been jointly sanctioned by the PGA Tour with Genesis as its title sponsor.

This year, the prize fund totals nine million dollars. Rory McIlroy is the defending champion of the Scottish Open.

The tournament will be broadcast on the Golf Channel. PGA TOUR Live on ESPN+ will offer exclusive live coverage, including features on select groups, while Peacock will offer simulcasts of the Golf Channel broadcasts.
