Carson Daly has a special guest to accompany him as he tees off at the Celebrity Golf Tournament this week: his son Jackson, 15!
Ahead of the American Century Investments American Century Championship, which kicks off in Lake Tahoe on Friday, July 12, the Today host, 51, took to the course Wednesday to practice with the support of his son, who he also had as his caddie at the recent PGA Pro-Am in Connecticut.
“I wasn’t sure if he could make it through 18 holes holding my bag, but he did,” Daly told PEOPLE on the course. “And he’s never looked at Instagram or TikTok, which is amazing, so that’s great. It’s a good time for us.”
A huge golf fan, Jackson recently met Tiger Woods on a May episode of NBC Nightly News: Kids Edition.
“It was fun,” Daly said. “I interviewed Tiger on air and Jackson interviewed him earlier on Nightly News Kids. I mean, it was early in the morning and he was sleeping in the car on the way to the Today Show, but he pulled himself together, wrote his own questions and had a great conversation with him.”

Daly said he and Jackson met up again with Woods, 48, in Las Vegas the weekend after the interview.
“I was hosting an event for him, and he saw Jackson and said, ‘Oh, you cut your hair,'” Daly said. “Jackson is like, ‘Hey, Dad, he knows me. He noticed that I cut my hair.’ So they’re like best friends now.”
Looking ahead, Daly says it would be “loved” to go on a father-son golf outing with Woods and his 15-year-old son, Charlie. Carson Daly. But Daly clarifies that “we’re not here to tell anyone they’re terrible.”
“That’s why ‘The Voice’ was created, and we’re coaches, not judges,” he says. “We know that when artists come in, even if we can’t turn a chair, we at least want to leave with constructive criticism. They want to know how to improve, and Adam is a master of this. So I’m very happy to have him back, of course, for those reasons and for personal reasons.
