The rumors that Mori had revealed the job began to spread until Monday. Then this afternoon, the PGA’s surprise announcement became official that Keegan Bradley had been named captain of Team USA for 2025.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more surprised in my life,” he said. “I had no idea. It took a while for it to sink in,” Bradley said at a news conference in New York City on Tuesday announcing his selection. “I’ve spoken to Tiger a number of times, I spoke to him on the phone this morning. It was very convenient. The tiger was always very convenient for me. It is a great voice to hear, and there was nothing more than – he turned to me, helping me, which was incredible.
During this event, PGA of America also read a Woods declaration, explaining why he transformed work.
“With my new functions concerning the [PGA] tour and temporary obligations, I thought I could not devote the time of the American team and the required players as captain,” said Woods. “It doesn’t mean you don’t want the team’s captain in the future. When you think it’s a good time, put a hat on a ring so that the committee makes a decision.
Finally, when Woods was asked about the captain of the Rider Cup team, he was in the PGA championship in May. So he confirmed that he had been negotiating between him and the American American PGA director in the United States. However, last month, he operated his steering for six years when his contract was not extended, and then resigned from the PGA head post last month.

That’s a lot for him. But Bradley didn’t rule out the possibility of Woods becoming Bethpage Black’s Ryder Cup vice captain. “I told him he’s welcome to come as much as he wants,” Bradley said. “We didn’t talk about vice-captaincy and I didn’t talk to anybody about vice-captaincy. So, we as players all respect Tiger and his opinion is very important to us,” he said. The crowd doesn’t understand how important this is to him because he’s in the team room with Tiger, that’s all.
He lives and breathes this incident.
“I think it shows how much he cares that he didn’t give up that position just because he felt like he couldn’t bring what was needed in terms of all his responsibilities with what was going on on the tour.” I appreciated it. I got to talk to Tiger before I accepted the job and I wanted to see what I thought…I wanted to hear his opinion. We had a great conversation. We really need his opinion.”
