Golfers’ Marathon Challenge for Childhood Cancer Charity

A golfer walked 26 miles through the woods with his clubs to raise money for a children’s cancer charity.

New Forest Golf Club captain Tom Morris tees off at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club at dawn on Friday, continuing to play holes at Burleigh and Bramshaw before completing a full round at his Lyndhurst clubhouse at 6:00 p.m. BST.

He took on the challenge to raise money for Abby\’s Heroes, which supports children, teenagers and young adults with cancer and their families.

Mr Morris raised more than £600 for the charity and described it as \”by far the hardest thing\” he has ever done. Abbie Randall, from Southampton, was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer in 2013 aged eight and died from the disease in 2016.

Her parents set up Abbie’s Heroes to support children and their families in the care of Southampton General Hospital’s Piam Brown Unit and Young People’s Unit. \ “It’s sad, but think about the heart that someone was very courageous,” said Morris.
