Golf icon Tiger Woods reflected on the toughest defeat of his career, citing the 2009 US PGA Championship as a particularly bitter pill to swallow. It was the first time he had led after three rounds without winning a major, with the title ultimately going to Ye Yang.
“I made some pretty stupid mistakes in the middle rounds and it took me a while to recover,” Woods admitted. “We made a big comeback at the end but it was too late, we made too many mistakes along the way. You can’t afford to make the mistakes I made and expect to win tournaments. I know better.”
