Tiger Woods’ struggles continue after disastrous showing, misses the cut at the Open ChampionshipWoods is heading home early once again

Woods is heading home early once againTiger Woods won’t look back at the 152nd Open Championship with fond memories after missing the cut – the third consecutive time he’s done so at a major championship this season. The 48-year-old matched his highest 36-hole score as a professional, 156, to finish 14-over par over the opening two rounds. That put him 10 shots off the cut off line at the time, and saw him place 148th among the 154 players.Tiger Woods accidentally hits a fan on the Masters golf course, a day to forgetWoods didn’t hide his disappointment after finishing 6-over-par in the second round, stating: “Well, it wasn’t very good.”I made a double there at (No.) 2 right out of the hopper when I needed to go the other way. I just was fighting it pretty much all day. I never really hit it close enough to make birdies and consequently made a lot of bogeys.”It brings Woods’ short and disappointing season to an end, as he said he won’t play again until December, likely at his unofficial Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.”I’d like to have played more, but I just wanted to make sure that I was able to play the major championships this year,” he said.”I got a lot of time off to get better, to be better physically, which has been the case all year. I’ve gotten better, even though my results really haven’t shown it, but physically I’ve gotten better, which is great.”I just need to keep progressing like that and then eventually start playing more competitively and start getting into kind of the competitive flow again.”Since the 2021/22 season, Woods has played 39 rounds of golf, but has only shot in the 60s in five rounds.Add in the fact that in nine of the 10 rounds he’s played at the four major championships this year he’s shot over par, and his struggles have been clear for all to see.”I’ve always loved playing major championships,” said Woods. “I just wish I was more physically sharp coming into the majors. Obviously, it tests you mentally, physically, emotionally, and I just wasn’t as sharp as I needed to be.”I was hoping that I would find it somehow, just never did. Consequently, my results and scores were pretty high.”
