Tiger Woods makes a big fuss as he watches Charlie play at the U.S. Junior Amateur

Charlie Woods played a tough round at the U.S. Junior Amateur earlier this week while his father watched over him.

Woods shot a 12-over 82 on Monday to qualify for the tournament. Woods secured his place among the world’s elite juniors last month when he qualified in the 71-and-under division at Coral Springs, Fla. Then he made a mistake on the Oakland Hills South course, which Ben Hogan called a “monster.” But Charlie is the only person in the world who has ever experienced being Tiger Woods’ kid, and now he knows exactly what it means to compete in the spotlight.

Charlie’s father was among about 100 spectators waiting on the first hole to watch his son play at an event that typically draws hundreds for the championship match. At least as many others watched them for hours.

“He still qualified,” Tiger told his son’s caddie after the round. “I tell him that all the time,” said Cadet Luke Wise.

Six members of the Oakland Hills team were assigned the task of crowd control. In order to give players and Tigers a small space, 10 additional men were sent with a rope.

The fans removed Charlie’s T -shirts, decorated from the ground decorated with palm trees, started the seventh hole, and saved them in memory. “It seems like he’s feeling the pressure,” said John Pinch, 35, of Warren, Michigan. “If his father could talk to him, he would probably try to calm him down.” “You can see he’s really depressed.”
