Greg Norman warns LIV Golf stars as players risk being kicked out of breakaway league
With three events remaining in the LIV Golf regular season, many players on the breakaway circuit are at risk of relegation. Greg Norman has sent them a timely reminder.
Greg Norman has called on struggling players on the LIV Golf Tour to “pull up your socks” as many stars face relegation from the breakaway tour.
With three events remaining in the regular season, including this week’s match at LIV Golf UK, many players are at risk of being kicked out of the Saudi-backed league. In total, four players will be sent to the league emission area, forcing them to play golf in another place in 2025.
Generally, the four players held at the start of separate tournaments are Branding Race, Scottovinsent, Karanvin Cent, and Karesamja. Of course, those not in the relegation zone are also at risk, with Harold Warner III, Pat Perez, Kozuma Jinichiro and Mito Pereira all in precarious positions at the end of the season, and with little golf remaining, LIV CEO Norman warned that time was running out on his playing quota. “We are in the final stages of the season,” the former world number one said during the second round on the LIV broadcast. “The players know that relegation is coming and the situation can change quickly… The players who are getting their act together need to get their act together and move forward.”
The relegation of the four players will open up space for new players to move to the Saudi side. Since its launch in June 2022, the LIV League has continued to attract some of the biggest names in golf, but Norman said there are still some underdogs looking to step up their efforts.
