Ricciardo focused on himself amid Red Bull seat rumours……full details below ⏬⏬
Daniel Ricciardo says he remains “focused on myself and what I can do” at this weekend’s Belgian GP ahead of an upcoming summer break when Red Bull are expected to make decisions over their Formula 1 driver line-up.As speculation continues to swirl about whether Sergio Perez will hold on to his seat at Red Bull’s senior team beyond this weekend’s Spa-Francorchamps race amid a sustained poor run of results, RB’s Ricciardo remains a contender to replace the Mexican should a change be made.Yet, conversely, Ricciardo is the one only of the four current drivers across the two Red Bull-owned teams without a contract for 2025 at all and admitted ahead of last week’s Hungarian GP that the final two races before the summer break were among the important ones of his career after a mixed start to 2024 when team-mate Yuki Tsunoda has regularly been RB’s quicker driver.“Honestly, I don’t know,” Ricciardo replied when asked in the Belgian GP Thursday press conference if he was expecting any driver changes in the Red Bull stable.“But, like always, just focused on myself and what I can do.“Every race or few races sand the narrative changes – that’s the sport we are in.“Things are happening quickly and just got to try in these situations to focus on yourself, get the most of that, and then see where the winds take me. So no change from the approach.“Coming into Budapest I knew it was going to be two important weekends coming up and of course hit the break with a bit of momentum, but that’s where my head is at. So try and do well.”
