Tiger Woods coach under fire for PGA Tour comments Scottie Scheffler won’t like
Hank Haney – who once worked alongside the great Tiger Woods during his coaching career – believes winning on the PGA Tour is no longer the feat it once was
Tiger Woods’ former coach Hank Haney has found himself facing criticism on social media after saying it was “easier than ever” to win a PGA Tour event.
Haney – who has worked alongside some of the biggest names on the Tour, including Woods – made the statement on Sunday night after Australian star Cam Davis recorded his second victory on the US Tour, claiming the title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Davis claimed victory in a dramatic final round at Detroit Golf Club, shooting a hard-fought 2-under par on Sunday to beat Aaron Rai and Akshay Bhatia, as well as compatriot Min Woo Lee.
However, Haney didn’t seem overly impressed by the feat, questioning the strength of PGA Tour events compared to what they used to be. “No one at Corrupt Golf Media has written an article saying it’s ever been easier to win on the PGA Tour,” he tweeted.
“This is one of the many reasons they are the founders of CGM.” Not everyone on social media seemed to agree with Haney’s opinion, with many golf fans replying 15 times to the former major coach and champion who is willing to voice his opinion. One fan responded: “Easy? PGAT (we) are still the hardest circuit. The competition is very tough,” while another continued on with the tweet: “Easy compared to what? With so many top players competing in the same tournaments, it is now more difficult for top players to win major tournaments compared to tournaments in the past 50 years.
