After USGA Heartbreak, Will Charlie Woods Play Golf in August 2024? Tiger Woods’s Son’s Schedule Explored
He missed the cut at his first USGA event. Who? The son of 15x major champion, Tiger Woods. The 15-year-old Charlie Woods once revealed his dream is to “win USGA Championships and hopefully one day the U.S. Open.” But with a 22-over 162 score and a tied finish of 240th, Woods Jr. could not make it quite in the first 64 ranks to advance in the game. A massive blow, sure, but what’s next?
Charlie Woods has been playing at quite a few events since 2020. Given his 2024 events played thus far, he might continue to compete in the 2024 season. But what does his schedule look like for August?
Unfortunately, you have to accept that, so far, Woods Jr’s August schedule looks empty. Many events are lined up for August where boys in the 12–19 age group can take part. Yet out of all these AJGA events, Charlie Woods is a name that is not recorded in any field lists. The 15-year-old golfer is even skipping the Justin Thomas Junior Championship, which kicks off on August 6 at Harmony Landing Country Club.
he is missing. The young junior amateur golfer will not participate in the Talor Gooch Foundation Junior Championship or the Kevin Harvick Foundation Junior Championship. The young prodigy will also skip on another big name, the Junior PLAYERS Championship presented by Rolex, that commences on August 29th at TPC Sawgrass, THE PLAYERS Stadium Course.
But this is not something new. As a South Florida PGA Junior Tour amateur, his records in August are quite underwhelming. Ever since his debut in 2020, Charlie Woods has only played two August events: the 2023 SFPGA Jr. Cup and the 2020 Links Tour Jonathan’s Landing Old Trail. While he won the tournament in 2020, he managed to finish T10 in August 2023. Hence, fans should not be hopeless, because Charlie Woods might spring back soon. But how has he performed in the season so far?
As a part of the South Florida PGA Junior Tour, Charlie Woods has taken part in three golf tournaments. This includes the Medalist Tour at Martin Downs, where he finished as the runner-up, the Medalist Tour at Admiral’s Cove in Village, and finally the South Florida Jr. PGA Championship, where Charlie Woods’s final scores gave him a T8 finish.
Apart from that, Woods has also participated in the Will Lowery Junior Championship and the UNIQLO/Adam Scott Junior Championship, where he finished in the T32 and T28 ranks, respectively. Needless to say, Woods was also a part of the 76th US Junior Amateur, where he missed the cut and ranked 240th.
