The 54-hole leaders started steady with pars at the first two holes, but it didn’t take long for them to heat up. Schauffele and Rahm reached 16 under with consecutive birdies on the par-5 third and par-4 fourth holes, while partner Fleetwood also extended his birdie streak to three holes at the same time to move up to the 15-under mark.

Meanwhile, Matsuyama, who played at even par on Saturday, made three birdies in his first five holes on Sunday to get back into contention at 14 under. On the difficult 17th hole, Scheffler lost his tee shot into the deep, rough left fairway, threatening his gold medal.
