The golf community’s that Tiger Woods, who is currently struggling in his career, should take a cue from Phil Mickelson’s surprising retirement plans.
They urge him to “follow” the veteran golfer and consider taking some time off for himself.
When fans prefer seeing you outside the ropes rather than inside, it’s a clear indication that your time is up. Phil Mickelson seems to be experiencing this sentiment at 54 years old and as captain of HyFlyers team in LIV Golfthis season with only one top-20 finish back in March. In fact, Lefty has managed just three top-10 finishes over the past three seasons on PIF-funded side.
Lefty explained in a recent interview that while he and his teammates have noticed moments where he performs at the level expected, he remains realistic. If unable to keep up, Lefty is willing to step aside and welcome someone who can help take the HyFlyers higher. This brings us to Tiger Woods as well.
In response to a query about his retirement, Woods stated that he will continue playing as long as he is able and believes that victory in the Open Championship is within reach. Despite having won 82 PGA Tour tournaments, many of his supporters do not perceive any remaining spark or potential triumphs in him.
The general consensus among netizens is that the result will remain unchanged. They believe that even Tiger Woods acknowledges this fact, but struggles to come to terms with it. A vocal critic lashed out at Mickelson’s 48 years of age and asserted, “Mickelson recognizes defeat unlike Tiger who still has traces of Ambien impacting his acceptance of losing.” Another individual straightforwardly declared their opinion by stating, “Phil triumphs over Tiger.”
There were those who pointed to Mickelson’s present condition and proposed that he should retire after 2024. These people compared the six-time major champion with Tiger Woods, saying, “He’s done for like Tiger; he refuses to confess his defeat!” Nevertheless, even in the past, Mickelson has talked about retiring.
During an interview with Bloomberg TV in May, the 54-year-old expressed his thoughts by saying, “As a matter of fact, I’m currently 53 years old and let’s face it – my career is coming to an end. Nevertheless, I aspire to assist others in discovering the same level of thrill and satisfaction that golf has brought me.”
Some people begrudgingly acknowledged that it was necessary for Phil to retire. “I don’t like the idea of seeing Phil leave, but he has had an impressive career and it’s time,” one person commented. Another agreed and added, “Tiger should do the same thing.” Someone else expressed similar sentiments by saying, “I wish Tiger would just accept this fact already.”
