High school sensation Quincy Wilson is going back home with an Olympic gold medal after Team USA won the 4×400 meter relay final on Saturday.
The 16-year-old from Chesapeake, Virginia, did not participate in the final, but he ran in the qualifying round, making him the youngest USA track and field Olympian ever.Wilson, along with Vernon Norwood, Bryce Deadmon and Christopher Bailey, helped Team USA secure a spot in the final, just making the cut with a third-place finish.
However, the high school student’s performance was not the best. As the first runner for the USA, Wilson put the team in seventh place with his leg of 47.27 seconds before handing the baton to Norwood.
His teammates had to make up for the time lost due to his poor run, and Bailey finished the race by jumping ahead of multiple opponents to cross the finish line with a spot in the finals.But Wilson now gets to go home with bragging rights and great Olympic experience. The crazy part is that the champion goes back to school in a little over two weeks.

Despite not running in the final, Wilson still became a medalist for his first-round run.
