Scottie Scheffler to receive significantly bigger bonus than Rory McIlroy, PGA Tour confirms payment
Scotty Scheffler has been well-paid in his prime season, receiving a much bigger bonus than Rory McIlroy and Xander Schaeffler with three lucrative events still to come
Scotty Scheffler’s stellar 2024 is about to get even better, with the world No. 1 receiving a huge bonus from the PGA Tour, nearly double that of Rory McIlroy.
Scheffler has won six PGA Tour titles this season, including a memorable second Masters title, and also won at the Paris Olympics last week, making it a golden year for the 28-year-old. The American has earned £22 million in prize money on the court this season and his bank account grew even more on Monday when he confirmed he was number one in the Comcast Business Tour’s top 10, a list that serves as an order of regular season standings. On the PGA Tour, Scheffler is number one by a large margin. For his efforts he will be given a bonus of £6.2 million and has a huge chance to increase his prize money in the final three weeks of the season through FedExCup qualifiers. The FedEx St Jude Championship and BMW Championship each carry a first place prize of £3.1 million, while the Tour Championship title comes with a massive prize of £19.6 million. “It’s been a great year for me on and off the court so it’s an honour to finish the regular season at number one on the Comcast Business Tour Top 10,” Scheffler said. “I strive every year to perform and compete to the best of my ability and this award truly reflects the hard work I put in throughout the season with the support of my family and team.”
PGA Championship and British Open winner Xander Schauffele is second on the list and will receive a bonus of £4.7 million, while Rory McIlroy is third with £3.8 million. Collin Morikawa came in fourth place, winning £3.4 million.
