“I’m going to teach Bryson how to win a British Open,” a smoking and barefoot Daly said. “Just let the wind be your friend — because that’s what Jack Nicklaus told me.”

Daly smoked the Open Championship in 1995.

Almost 30 years later, he looks a lot different and is much changed.

But in many ways, the 58-year-old golfer with five PGA Tour wins is still the same off-the-cuff Daly that fans love across the globe.

As he chatted with DeChambeau, one of the hottest golfers on the planet — and a rising YouTube star — kept laughing and taking in everything that makes Daly’s personality so unique.

Then gladly took a gift only Daly could present someone with – cigars.

“I just want to say, I love you, son,” Daly told DeChambeau as he handed them over. “You may not smoke cigars, but handmade Dominican — bring ’em to your friends.”

“Wow, that’s awesome,” DeChambeau replied.

The latest episode of Break 50 paired two of the most individual golfers in the sport.

DeChambeau is best known for hitting bombs, embracing the modern world within a traditional game, and becoming one of the new faces of golf.

Daly once smoked 21 cigarettes and drank 12 cans of Coke at a Tour event with no water.

In the video with DeChambeau, Daly wore a hat that read “HICK” across the front.

“I’m going to drink because I know you’re going to carry me,” Daly told his friend.

“Perfect,” DeChambeau said.

It was a dream pairing for new-school golf fans — and could be a reality TV series in the making.

“I’ll drink chocolate milk,” DeChambeau said. “We’re good.”

Every line that Daly spoke was golf comedy.

DeChambeau couldn’t stop smiling, and appeared to acknowledge that before there was Bryson shredding the tour, there was Daly breaking norms and challenging convention.

“You do the long game,” Daly said. “I’ll do the short game because I’m old and fat, and I’ve got a great future behind me, son.”

Daly has made more than $10 million on the PGA Tour.

DeChambeau, who’s part of the LIV Tour, has nine PGA wins and more than $34 million in career PGA earnings.
