Nelly Korda broke down in tears after missing out on this year’s Olympic gold medal because she underestimated her opponent by just one minute.
Defending gold medalist Nelly Korda (USA) gave it her all but struggled with her swing and was unable to reclaim the title. At the beginning of Saturday morning, the fourth and last golf tour started with impressive performance, leading to a major reorganization with a leader table.
Lydia Ko finally set up her place in the glorious LPGA hall and received money. Through her professional career, she accumulated impressive results.
Previously, after won silver and bronze medals at the 2016 and the Tokyo Olympics. Few can match the list of accolades that Ko, just 27, has.
Esther Henseleit won a silver medal for Germany in her first Olympic Games. She showed exceptional effort and determination on the greens, coming back from 13th place in the third round, and despite starting the final round just two under par, she finished an impressive eight under par to take second place, just two behind Ko. China’s Lin Shiyu, who finished the tournament seven points and one stroke behind Henseleit, won the bronze medal. Paris 2024 was her third Olympic Games but Saturday’s competition was her first time winning a medal. Despite their efforts, the US team could not get a parade. Nevertheless, Rose Chang fell into history as the first American athlete on the evaluation list and ranked eighth in eighth place. Unfortunately, her performance in the final round did not live up to expectations, earning a +2 for the round and ultimately finishing with a total score of 5 under par.
Further down the rankings, Nelly Korda (USA) takes the next spot on the list. She was in a bind at one under par, tied for third in 22nd place, and looked to be in a tough spot.
The defending gold medalist is not in an ideal position. After placing 6th in the third round and determined to move up the rankings, her position deteriorated considerably. Although she did not reach the top of this year’s Olympics, we hope to see her back on the team in future competitions.
