Tiger Woods’ former golf coach drops LIV Golf/PGA Tour bombshell after latest Jon Rahm rumors. Full details below.
Woods’ former coach has expressed his feelings after hearing LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman criticize a Golf Digest report that the superstar signing Rahm was unhappy and wanted to return to the PGA Tour.
Rahm, 29, has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal worth around $600 million to join LIV Golf in late 2023. According to Golf Digest’s latest article on Rahm, the former world No. 1 is eager to return to the PGA Tour and is even willing to give millions back to LIV Golf this season. Rahm has just one win in 12 LIV Golf events this season, losing to Brooks Koepka in a playoff at The Greenbrier on Sunday. Koepka now has a record five wins at LIV Golf.
However, Rahm maintains a slight lead in the LIV Golf title race throughout the season, heading into the final regular event in Chicago on September 13-15. But it was Ram’s shocking claims of general dissatisfaction with the LIV Golf that made the biggest headlines last week.
He admitted it was complete nonsense, especially after speaking to Ram’s manager on Friday. According to former golf coach Tiger Woods Haney, the Golf Digest article couldn’t be further from the truth.
Haney actually played a backwards Uno card based on his guess. Haney believes it’s the PGA Tour players who most regret their decision to stay loyal and not accept the big-money move to LIV Golf.
Haney coached Woods from 2004 to 2010, during which Woods won six major titles. The couple broke up a few months after revelations about Woods’ personal life surfaced in 2009.
In 2012, Haney said she regretted the sour turn of her relationship with Woods.
Haney’s latest tweet came days after PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan acknowledged he had not come to an agreement with LIV Golf financiers. Monahan met with a small group of reporters last Wednesday before the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Near the end of the major season, there were reports that lightning had struck between games. But despite several meetings, no significant updates have been made for several months.
