Burns successfully executed his plan of having a strong beginning on a sunny day in Memphis. He commenced with a birdie on the second hole, an eagle on the third and yet another birdie on the fourth. As he turned around after completing nine holes, Burns recorded an impressive 29 score. Eventually, by the end of his round that day, he had narrowed down to only one stroke behind Hideki Matsuyama and Denny McCarthy who shared leadership position jointly.

Burns responded affirmatively when asked if the week felt like a playoff, despite unenthusiastic crowds.

He expressed that due to the scorching temperatures, it is unlikely for individuals to stroll around and become fans. Instead, they are remaining situated in shelters – a choice he would also make if he was present. Notwithstanding, with regards to competitors partaking in this crucial week leading up until the Tour Championship; there certainly exists an altered mood amongst them.

Despite some impressive performances this season, Denny McCarthy entered the tournament with unfavorable odds to win. . “I don’t want to share too much. It’s been bothering me, but I’ve managed to overcome it these past few days. As I previously mentioned, the heat seems to alleviate it. Anyway, excited for a challenge this weekend,” he stated cautiously.

Saturday is expected to bring thunderstorms.

PGA Tour officials announced on Friday afternoon that the Memphis area is likely to experience thunderstorms early Saturday. Because of the unfavorable weather forecast, players have been rescheduled to tee off around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday morning.

During rounds one and two, the 70-player group started teeing off in pairs every ten minutes at 7:20 a.m. on the first tee. However, for Saturday’s round, players will be grouped into threes and begin simultaneously from both Nos.1 and 10 between 9:45-11:45 am.
