Phil Mickelson has been elected as the new Ryder Cup captain following Keegan Bradley’s suspension due to accusations of cheating at the BMW CHAMPIONSHIP. More comprehensive details are available.

At the Royal Troon Golf Club, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson underwent contrasting journeys. While Mickelson continues to participate in the Open Championship, Woods failed to qualify for it. Nonetheless, a happening at this very venue left its mark on both these renowned golfers.

Observing from the Royal Troon range during the Open Championship, Mickelson and Woods were seen practicing next to each other. Although they seemed indifferent towards one another, there was more than meets the eye.

During his conversation with Bob Harig of Sports Illustrated, Phil Mickelson talked about the event where he crossed paths with Woods. He recounted that they exchanged pleasantries at the time by saying “Hi”. However, both were focused on their preparation and not in a position to engage in idle chit-chatting. Nonetheless, they acknowledged each other’s presence as captured by their greetings.

The journalist noted that Mickelson and Woods’ recent interaction was probably their first in years. The two golf legends have maintained a distant, virtually non-existent relationship throughout their careers due to their longstanding fierce rivalry.

Moreover, the two athletes represent opposite factions in the ongoing debate within men’s professional golf. Mickelson holds a prominent position at LIV Golf, while Woods serves as both a player director and member of PGA Tour’s negotiation team involved with talks featuring Public Investment Fund (PIF).
