Angel Reese Impresses WNBA Fans with Record-Setting Performance in Sky Win vs. Sun
Chicago Sky star rookie forward Angel Reese delivered a fantastic second-half performance en route to matching her career-high with 20 rebounds. But the Connecticut Sun narrowly defeated the Sky, 82-80, to win the game.
Five days earlier, Reese had 20 rebounds (19 points) in a win over the Phoenix Mercury. Reese made WNBA history with her performance on Friday.
Reese didn’t score a single point in the first half but finished with 13 points. She helped the sky to overcome the shortage of 10 points, and the team led six points in the previous quarter.
The lease went to both ends, received a block in the first quarter of the third quarter, and worked on the board with 15 to 5 jogging. Reese continued to make strong plays on the glass, bringing his miss to a point and cutting the Sun’s lead to one.
The Sky fans applauded his efforts. The Sky took an 80-77 lead on two free throws by Reese with 1:52 left, but the Sun closed out the game with five free throws to secure the win. A pair by Alyssa Thomas with four seconds left gave the Sun a permanent lead. It was a tough defeat for Sky, but it was hard not to be impressed by Reese’s superb second half and continued dominance on the pitch.
