Routh was apprehended after fleeing in a black Nissan SUVThe shooter who allegedly attempted to fire upon Donald Trump in a second “attempted assassination” was identified as Ryan Wesley Routh : The man who conducted “what appears to be an attempted assassination” on former President Donald Trump has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh.Routh allegedly attempted to shoot the businessman as he golfed at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach near his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.A witness spotted the man as he crouched in the bushes near the fence about 400 to 500 yards from where Trump was ready to putt at the fifth hole. Routh was at the sixth hole, and the Secret Service reportedly saw the muzzle of his AK-47 poking through the fence.The agency opened fire on the suspect, who dropped the weapon and left two backpacks and a GoPro before fleeing in a black Nissan SUV, racing toward Interstate 95, traveling northbound as quickly as he could.Trump: ‘there will be no third debate’ with HarriscloseThe witness watched this unfold and took pictures and video of Routh, allowing the Secret Service and other local law enforcement agencies like the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI to track his location via the license plate of the vehicle.Routh was apprehended about 40 miles north of the golf course moments later, with local law enforcement having spotted the SUV and confirming its plates. When Routh exited the vehicle, he was reportedly calm and flat in demeanor and showed little emotion.
