MastersTiger Woods made history in his first full PGA Tour event in a year.Woods finished the second round of the 2024 Masters with an even-par 72 on a windy day at Augusta National on Friday. He started the tournament with a plus-1 differential on Saturday, finishing in the top 50 and becoming the first player in Masters history to make the cut 24 straight times.
There was less than an hour of rest between the final match of the rain-delayed first round and the start of the second round on Friday. Woods looked a bit tired early on, finishing his second round with four bogeys, including three in his first nine holes.He bounced back with three birdies, including a chip shot on the sixth hole.He finished the round by making par with a putt on No. 18, earning a standing ovation from the crowd at Augusta National.In his last PGA Tour event, Woods withdrew after 24 holes from the 2024 Genesis Invitational.
If he manages to complete the Masters, it will be his first full PGA Tour event since undergoing ankle surgery in April 2023.That put him on the verge of undergoing 15-of-15 surgeries, including some right leg and ankle injuries following a car accident in 2021. The absence from the tour didn’t hinder Woods’ recovery, as he made the cut on Friday.The third round of the 2024 Masters begins Saturday. Time T -fork has not been decided yet.
Woods was looking for Masters’ sixth victory and his first victory since 2019. He needs one more win to tie Jack Nicklaus for most tournament wins in PGA Tour history.
