Tiger Woods dodges questions about friendship with Trump
Tiger Woods dodged questions about his relationship with President Donald Trump on Sunday, telling reporters that the president’s job should be “respected” regardless of personal views.
Woods, who appeared at a press conference after finishing tied for 40th at the Northern Trust, avoided providing details when asked by reporters about his friendship with Trump. But he stressed that he’s known the president “for many years,” Sports Illustrated reported.
Woods reportedly added, “Well, he’s the president of the United States.” “We have to respect that function. Whoever holds that office, you may like or dislike their personality or their policies, but we all have to respect the office.”
Woods, who has played golf with many former presidents, said Sunday that his relationship with Trump began before he took office and continued during his presidency. Last year, for example, the duo played a round together at Trump International Golf Club in Florida, which Woods praised at the time, according to USA Today.
“What struck me most was how far he hits the ball at 70 years old. “He’s pretty badly hit,” Woods reportedly wrote on his website. “The topics of discussion varied; it was fun. We both enjoyed joking, arguing and punching each other.
President Trump commented on the issue on Monday, criticizing the “fake media” for asking Tiger about the president.
The fake media worked hard to get Tiger Woods to say things he didn’t mean to say. Tiger did not play the game -he was very smart. More importantly, he plays a big golf course again!
Woods also relied on other subjects carefully. According to Sports Illustrated, when asked by a reporter at a press conference about race relations, Woods declined to comment because he had “just finished 72 holes” and was “very hungry.”
