Bryson DeChambeau Surpasses PGA Tour in YouTube Subscribers
The two-time Major winner’s YouTube channel has skyrocketed over the past year, amassing more subscribers than even the biggest Tour in golf.
Bryson DeChambeau has had an outstanding year, clinching his second Major title at the US Open and inspiring countless people to take up golf.
As of late September, DeChambeau’s YouTube channel has reached a major milestone. Not only is he on the verge of hitting 1.5 million subscribers, but he has also surpassed the PGA Tour—the very circuit where the 31-year-old used to compete before joining LIV Golf—in subscriber count.
Although DeChambeau has the higher subscriber count, he lags significantly behind the PGA Tour in terms of total view count. As of now, the PGA Tour boasts 1.7 billion views compared to DeChambeau’s 188 million. However, it’s worth noting that the PGA Tour has released over 20,500 more videos than him.
DeChambeau’s YouTube channel experienced a significant surge in 2024, largely due to his outstanding performances at Major championships and captivating content such as the ‘Break 50’ series. This popular series features the two-time Major winner playing alongside notable figures like John Daly, Tony Romo, and even Donald Trump.
In May, leading up to the final round of the PGA Championship, DeChambeau’s YouTube channel boasted over 600,000 subscribers. The American golfer attributed this growth to his ability to better showcase his personality through the platform.
“I’ve put in a lot of effort to help people understand me better,” said DeChambeau, who finished second at the PGA Championship. “YouTube has been an excellent platform for that.”
The Break 50 series is incredibly enjoyable, and I really love participating in it. It’s a unique challenge that hasn’t been completed without any strokes before, which keeps my mind sharp and entertained. This experience reminds me of what the game truly represents—not just for personal gains like winning money or trophies but also for providing entertainment. Of course, we all seek to win trophies; however, our main goal should be entertaining the fans. That’s ultimately what’s most important here.
