PGA Tour standout Max Homa has announced his split from golf coach Mark Blackburn just ahead of the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal in Canada.

Homa, 33, is participating in Jim Furyk’s United States Presidents Cup team this week after being selected as one of the six captain’s picks.

Many fans believe that Homa is the luckiest of all the picks, considering his recent struggles with form.

Conversely, Homa has been exceptionally dependable in his most recent outings at the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup.

Homa remained undefeated in both the 2022 Presidents Cup and the 2023 Ryder Cup, securing seven and a half points out of a possible nine.

The American had been collaborating with his swing coach, Blackburn, since the 2020 U.S. Open.

While they were together, Homa secured five of his six career PGA Tour titles.

However, Homa has failed to secure a top-10 finish in his last 10 events and has consequently decided it’s time for a change.

As a result, he has dropped in the rankings from seventh in the world at the beginning of this season to his current position of 25th.

The six-time PGA Tour champion informed reporters before the Presidents Cup that he chose to conclude his partnership with Blackburn last month.

Max Homa has announced that he and swing coach Mark Blackburn have parted ways. Their professional relationship began at the 2020 U.S. Open but came to an end after Memphis. Homa greatly values Blackburn as a family friend, but ultimately decided to take greater control of his own golf swing.

“I love Mark,” Homa said.

Homa’s caddie, Joe Greiner, will also serve as an additional set of eyes on his swing during this week’s Presidents Cup in Canada.

He is also sending swing videos to a friend for their opinion.

The United States is aiming for its 10th consecutive victory at the Presidents Cup this week.
