Simone Biles (born March 14, 1997) is an American gymnast, the most decorated in history, winner of 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals. She is considered one of the greatest gymnasts of all time. Biles is tied for second among all Olympic gymnasts with Vera Chaslavskaya for the most decorated, and holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by an American gymnast.

At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Biles won four gold medals (individual all-around, vault, floor and team exercise) and a bronze medal on balance beam. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the U.S. team withdrew from most events due to “endurance” reasons, but still won a silver medal in the team event and a bronze medal on balance beam. Their tenacity earned them the nickname “The Fighting Four.” At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Biles became the first American woman to win two Olympic titles in the all-around and vault, and also won silver on floor exercise and another team gold medal. She is also a six-time world all-around champion and holds multiple world titles on floor exercise, balance beam, and vault. In 2019, Biles broke the record for most medals won at a World Championships, surpassing Vitaly Scherbo’s previous record of 23. She has since increased her medal total to 30. In 2022, Bails received the presidential freedom medal and, in 2023, she won her eighth title in American gymnastics, breaking a 90 -year record.
