Woods broke the all-time record for consecutive cuts, surpassing the previous mark of 23 held jointly by Fred Couples and Gary Player. Despite having to play an additional 23 holes on Friday due to a rain delay that shortened Thursday’s rounds, there was only a brief period available for recovery.

Fifteen top contenders completed the first round at +1. They endured tough conditions, battling both physical challenges and strong winds, ultimately getting eliminated in level 72 of the second round. Fans were amazed by how affordable Masters food is compared to the prices of Guinness at the Grand National.

Woods ignited a controversy at the Masters with an inadvertent admission, but a timely phone call saved him.

Woods has not missed a cut at Augusta since his first victory in 1997, even making three appearances following a near-fatal car accident in 2021.

The golf legend, eight strokes behind the leader after completing round two, remains confident in his ability to secure a victory. When questioned about the new record, Woods remarked to Sky Sports: “If you’re not here on the weekend, you can’t win.” He went on to say, “To achieve this repeatedly… I have an opportunity this weekend.” Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy had a dramatic start at the BMW PGA Championship by breaking his club and putting left-handed.

Reacting to the eight-hour trek around Augusta, Woods commented: “I’m tired. And I’m hungry. I need food and a bit of caffeine.”

Over the past 24 months, 48-year-old football players have only played in one major championship consisting of 72 holes. Recently, an iconic Nike Golf advertisement has resurfaced featuring a young Rory McIlroy and channeling memories of Tiger Woods at his peak after earning $500 million.

After qualifying for the 2023 Masters, Woods had to withdraw due to severe discomfort and soon underwent ankle fusion surgery.

Apart from this week, he has participated in only one major tournament since his surgery—the Genesis Invitational PGA Tour in February, which he had to exit early due to illness. Woods is poised to benefit from favorable weather and some essential rest as the weekend approaches, but it remains uncertain how his body will handle the grueling 36-hole journey.

“I’ve always loved playing here,” he told the media afterward. “I have been able to play here since I was 19, and it’s an honor that I do not take lightly. Competing on this course is something special. “I’d love to continue playing for as many years as possible because there’s such an aura and mystique about this golf course. If you’ve never played or competed here, it’s hard to truly understand the experience.” He went on: “This golf course reveals all your weaknesses—the greens are fast, and the wind comes from every direction. It has been a great challenge.”
