Tom Kim Alleges Unsportsmanlike Conduct from US Team – Blog Explora
Tom Kim vehemently criticizes Team USA, labeling them as ‘unsportsmanlike’ after being subjected to curses from players on Day 3 of the Presidents Cup.
After the third day of the Presidents Cup, Tom Kim criticized Team USA for what he described as poor sportsmanship. He claimed that some players from the visiting team had directed curse words at him.
On Saturday, September 28, Tom Kim participated in both the fourball and foursomes sessions. He and Si Woo Kim secured a victory in the morning fourball with a score of 4&3 but faced a narrow defeat in the foursomes by 1-up. During his post-round interview, Tom Kim voiced his displeasure over the conduct of the U.S. players, alleging that they displayed poor sportsmanship.
“The beginning of the round was definitely tough, but as it went on, things got a bit heated,” he remarked. “I could hear some players swearing at us, and that wasn’t really—in my opinion—displaying good sportsmanship.”
“But that’s all part of the fun. I get it. So, the US team certainly motivated us to go out there,” he added.
Kim mentioned that he wasn’t frustrated or angry with the enthusiasm of the US team, as he too enjoyed expressing himself on the golf course. However, he felt there was no need for negative remarks.
“I genuinely believe there’s no need to look at someone and curse at them. It’s simply unnecessary. While I understand why it happens and don’t take offense, my feelings aren’t hurt by it in the slightest,” he said, hoping for a lack of negative comments.
