Simone Biles bids farewell to the iconic reception with a satirical funeral.

For years, Simone Biles has mesmerized us with her astonishing double Yurchenko vault—a move so legendary that it garnered her some of the highest scores in her career and contributed to an impressive collection of gold medals. However, on Tuesday, Biles announced the end of this iconic era through Instagram by hosting a mock funeral for the celebrated reception. Dressed entirely in white, she posted two photos featuring herself seated atop a vaulting box adorned with flowers.

She added the caption, “Rest in peace Mr. Yurchenko Double Peak,” to her post, which sparked a flurry of reactions from fans and even prompted USA Gymnastics to comment, “Gone but literally never forgotten.”

Yurchenko’s double jump is no ordinary feat. This gravity-defying maneuver involves entering the ring, jumping backwards, and flipping twice in mid-air. Simone Biles made history in May 2021 as the first woman to successfully complete this stunt. When she accomplished it again at the World Championships in Belgium in October 2023, it was renamed “Biles II.” Despite a calf injury, Biles performed remarkably well at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, adding four more medals to her collection for a total of 11 Olympic medals—a testament to her status as one of America’s most decorated gymnasts. Following these achievements came an unexpected turn when fake funeral posts surfaced soon after Biles shared images from an impressive photoshoot featuring all her Olympic accolades. In one standout photo slide from that shoot, she’s seen seated amidst white curtains and flowers while wearing a striking white minidress; she’s biting into one gleaming medal among others laid out on stairs beneath delicate covers.

His autograph reads, “6 years old, I will be proud.” And honestly, who wouldn’t be?

By the way, this post has already received 3.4 million likes and thousands of comments have poured in to celebrate the gymnastics goat.
