Simone Biles says goodbye to the iconic reception with mock funeral
Simone Biles has left us all in awe for years with her incredible double Yurchenko vault, a move so legendary it earned her some of the highest marks of her career and helped her amass a collection of gold medals. But on Tuesday, Biles took to Instagram to mark the end of an era by hosting a mock funeral for the iconic reception. Dressed in all white, the gymnastics queen shared two photos of herself sitting on a vaulting box surrounded by flowers.
She captioned the post, “Rest in peace Mr. Yurchenko Double Peak.” The post sent fans into a frenzy, with USA Gymnastics even joining in with the comment, “Gone but literally never forgotten.”
Yurchenko’s double jump is no ordinary jump. This gravity-defying stunt involves entering the ring, jumping backwards, and flipping twice in the air. Biles made history in May 2021 when she became the first woman to pull off the stunt, and after she pulls it off again at the world championships in Belgium in October 2023, the move has been renamed “Biles II.” Despite the calf trauma, bail was able to make this impressive stage at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. There, four medals were added to the collection, and the total number of 11 Olympic medals were recorded. And don’t forget that she is an officially decorated American gymnast. The fake funeral post came after Biles shared photos from a stunning photoshoot featuring all of her Olympic medals. In the first slide, Biles is seen sitting in a white minidress amid white curtains and flowers, nibbling on a sparkly medal. The rest of her jewelry is placed on the stairs, covered with a white cloth.
His autograph? “6 years old, I will be proud.” And, frankly, who wouldn’t be?
By the way, this post has already scored 3.4 million likes and calculated, and thousands of comments have flowed to celebrate the gymnastics goat.
