Max Verstappen to amass 2024 championship in ‘WEAKER’ RB20
Red Bull has so far failed to resolve persisting issues with the RB20, which have affected Max Verstappen’s title chase this season.
The Sauber/Audi F1 CTO and COO Mattia Binotto has entrusted Red Bull driver Max Verstappen to defend the driver’s championship this year. Verstappen has won the title consecutively since the 2021 season.
Max Verstappen leads the title race with a handsome lead of 52 points heading into the last six races. He has, however, failed to win in any of the last eight races. Red Bull’s RB20 has appeared vaguely ineffective against the powerful likes of McLaren and Ferrari.
Mattia Binotto has nevertheless claimed that the Dutchman possesses the skill to fight his rivals in a seemingly weaker challenger. Binotto also pitted McLaren to win the constructors’ title this campaign.
Verstappen the drivers’ title, McLaren the constructors’ title. He [Max Verstappen] still proves that even with a car that is weaker than others.
Mattia Binotto said during an interview with Corriere della Sera
Verstappen will be hopeful of his team to resolve some issues within the RB20 ahead of the race in Austin this month. A failure on the Milton-Keynes-based team’s part might cause the title to slip from the Dutch driver’s hands.
Red Bull was earlier accused of benefiting from a banned braking system, which compelled the FIA to investigate the matter. But the governing body later released a statement stating the absence of any such system within the Austrian outfit.
People always come up with different stuff. I find it really bizarre how they come up with some of these things, but it is what it is. It’s part of the game, but I usually just let it go.
Max Verstappen told motorsport.com
Verstappen has thereafter labeled these allegations as bizarre and baseless. The 26-year-old also claimed that often times unfounded rumors are a part and parcel of the pinnacle of motorsport.
The three-time world champion has always been clear on calling out allegations ever since his debut in Formula 1. He will now seek to do the same while focusing his attention on amassing the fourth title of his career.
