Max Verstappen’s aggressive defense against Lando Norris in the Mexican Grand Prix has ignited debate within the F1 community. For the second consecutive Sunday, Verstappen and Norris engaged in a fierce battle; however, this time it was Verstappen who ended up on the losing side.
Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has expressed his support for the British racer and criticized the Dutchman, accusing him of intentionally forcing his opponent. He defended Lando Norris following his intense duel with Verstappen.
It wasn’t the first instance of the Dutchman attempting to force Norris off the track. A comparable incident occurred in Austin, where the Brit incurred a penalty for executing a similar maneuver. Fast forward seven days to Mexico’s AHR circuit, and they clashed once more.
During lap 10, the 24-year-old challenged Max Verstappen by maneuvering around the outside of Turn 4 and emerged victorious. With the apex to his advantage this time, Verstappen, a three-time world champion, received a penalty for pushing him off track. It appeared that he managed to unsettle Verstappen somewhat; many believe his aggressive maneuvers were signs of frustration from the Red Bull driver.
Ralf Schumacher firmly criticized Verstappen’s maneuver, labeling it as deliberate. He likened the 27-year-old’s racing style to that of a “street dog,” emphasizing his aggressive and ruthless behavior on the track.
