Amid ongoing speculation about his retirement from Formula One, Max Verstappen has said his future in the sport will depend on how exciting the race cars are after 2026, when a new era of regulations begins. He also said he has no interest in chasing an eighth or ninth championship title.
The Dutch driver recently suggested he might consider leaving F1 if he was no longer able to express himself freely. His comments follow the FIA’s recent crackdown on drivers using offensive language, which saw Verstappen fined a day of community service for using foul language during a press conference.
The revelation of his retirement from racing and his interest in starting his own GT3 team in the future could signal a gradual retreat from the top class of motorsport.
