Verstappen once again finished half a second slower than the session’s fastest time, with George Russell topping the times as the track improved as the session progressed – meaning Mercedes have had a car that has set the fastest lap in every session so far.
The Dutchman was also beaten on the scoreboard by championship rival Lando Norris, who he needs to beat this weekend to secure the title ahead of next weekend in Qatar. Lance Stroll was the man to take the red flag at the end of the session as his car let him down on the track and stalled.
