Statement on General Motors application to join FIA Formula One World Championship in 2026
Statement regarding General Motors’ participation in the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship | Formula 1®F1
announced today that it has reached an agreement in principle with General Motors (GM) to support the entry of GM/Cadillac as the 11th team on the F1 grid in 2026.F1 has been in dialogue with General Motors and its partners at TWG Global regarding a potential entry following the commercial evaluation and decision made by F1 in January 2024.
During the year they achieved operational milestones and revealed their intention to create an 11th GM/Cadillac team, with GM coming on board as an engine supplier at a later date. Formula 1 is therefore happy to continue this application process and will provide further updates in due course.
