Red Bull Driver Discusses Ricciardo’s F1 Comeback with High Hopes for Aussie Success

Former Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, who recently left the sport, has been predicted to achieve future success by ex-Red Bull star David Coulthard.

In September, after the Singapore Grand Prix, Ricciardo lost his place on the 2024 grid. Liam Lawson replaced him at Visa Cash App RB for the rest of the season.

Frequently at the center of driver swap rumors, Ricciardo may have felt pressure after often being outperformed by his teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

The future steps for the popular Australian driver are uncertain, as only one seat remains available on the F1 grid for 2025 at VCARB.

David Coulthard supports Ricciardo’s return to F1.

In an exclusive interview with GPFans, former F1 driver David Coulthard talked about Ricciardo’s prospects of returning to the sport, suggesting that a path similar to his own might be possible.

Coulthard, who drove for Red Bull from 2005 to 2008 before retiring from the sport, now balances his role as a co-founder of an innovative initiative with promotional activities for Red Bull at events like their show runs. Additionally, he serves as an F1 pundit during race weekends.

Ricciardo’s fanbase expanded significantly due to his charismatic role in the popular Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive.’ Coulthard thinks that returning to the grid as an F1 pundit might be exactly what the Australian star needs.

Coulthard told GPFans, “If he’s mentally at peace with the opportunities he’s had in Formula 1, then transitioning should be straightforward. It seems like a logical next step for him.”

Being a Formula 1 driver, or any athlete in general, is a precious gift and an incredibly rare opportunity. You have to work hard to achieve it and rely on the support of others to sustain it. However, ultimately, success in elite sports comes down to performance.

“He would excel in this era of the sport, having already established a presence in America. I believe he could have a highly successful career.”
